Please join us for this Friends of the Poor Walk through DeKalb's historic district and downtown on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Our 1.25-mile route will begin and end at the St. Mary Church parking lot, follow sidewalks along Fourth St., Lincoln Hwy. and First St., and not require crossing any busy streets.

Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the west entrance to the Church, and following a group photo taken on the front steps of the Church our Walk will start at 9:30 a.m. .

All the funds raised through this Walk will directly benefit local individuals and families who are struggling. Our Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Mary/Christ The Teacher Conference was established in 2004 to reach out to and assist our neighbors-in-need. This Friends of the Poor Walk is held to bring increased awareness to the local issues surrounding systemic poverty in our community.

The Friends of the Poor® Walk is a national event coordinated by the Development Team at the National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
