Friends of the Poor Walk/Run 2019

Bethpage, NY

In Glen Cove, the Society of St Vincent de Paul at the Church of St. Rocco was first established in 1961 and recently reorganized two years ago. We offer tangible, person-to-person assistance to neighbors in need, here and throughout the world based on home visits with local neighbors in need. Some of the ways we help neighbors in our community include food assistance, limited financial assistance, informal counseling, seasonal ministries (Thanksgiving turkey drive and Christmas toys) and referrals to social services, the parish food pantries and the St Patrick’s Thrift Store. Each year, over 60 Conferences (or chapters) participate in the “Friends of the Poor Walk,” an event that builds unity and raises money for those of us most in need. All donations made through this team page will go directly to the Society here in Glen Cove for use in our local community. Please consider donating in the name of one of our volunteers, or even better -- joining us as a team member and walking or running the 5K with us. Thank you!

The Friends of the Poor® Walk is a national event coordinated by the Development Team at the National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
