I believe Jesus meant what he said about separating the sheep from the goats based how we serve the poor and because of that, I believe J. Forbes accurately captures His meaning when he wrote, "Nobody gets to heaven without a letter of reference from the poor." The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul pushes aside our timidity and brings us face-to-face access to those in need.
