On Saturday, September 25th, I’m joining my fellow Vincentians at Belle Isle for the 14th Annual Detroit Friends Walk. This is my 6th year participating at this event. We come from Catholic churches all across the Detroit area – me from Guardian Angels in Clawson – all walking together to raise money to help those in need of assistance with rent, prescriptions, food, clothing, utilities, etc.
This program provides funding for local Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Conferences and Councils. Funds raised from this event remains local, allowing local SVdP Conferences/Councils to provide emergency assistance to those in need, regardless of race, origin, religion, or gender.
The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run is a national event coordinated by the Development Team at the National
Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
