Poverty is all around us and we all know people who have been affected in one way or another. St. Vincent de Paul volunteers, through its local conferences, typically visit the homes of those who make requests for help. This past year or two have been different, like so many other things in our lives. We were doing telephone and virtual visits, but helping with acute needs all the same. We are now returning to in person visits.
Usually the assistance given is to help with a security deposit or rent, utility bills, food, clothing or medical help. Many times those who we help have exhausted all other options and come to SVDP as a last resort.
We also work hard to lead those we help to other agencies that can further assist them in resolving issues, whether they be short or long term. We utilize a team of 2 volunteers to assess each situation and then bring a recommendation back to the our group for approval. 100% of the money donated goes directly to helping the poor among us.
Conference members are all volunteers. See more information by accessing the links below about St. Vincent de Paul (who assists all people, regardless of race or creed) and the Friends of the Poor walk.

Gratefully, Steve
Steve has been a Vincentian since 1997 and believes in the right of all to have a chance to be the best that they can be. There are times for all of us when the challenges are just a bit too big to handle alone. SVDP is there to help those who reach out. Thank you for your kind consideration to help.
